My work examines contemporary social and cultural issues, Australia’s selfhood and our collective memories.
I am a Sydney based artist with a background in Graphic Design prior to moving to a full time arts practice. I create with acrylic on canvas, charcoal on paper and linocut relief printmaking.
With a deep sense of affection for a time before global cultural cliches and homogenization, my works encompass imagery that contemplates the commonplace and incongruous, collective experiences from the recent past and our sense of ‘place’. I’m interested in reinterpreting commemoration and adoration. Through the use of repetition, pattern and colour I investigate these topics by distilling them into three essential elements in my compositions and employ allegory and symbolism to tell a tale.
My paintings have appeared in solo and group exhibitions across NSW and as a finalist in numerous art prizes including the Waverley, Hawkesbury, Blacktown and Muswellbrook prizes. My prints, paintings and exhibited works and commissioned pieces are with local and interstate collectors and my influences include Fauvism, Japanese printmaking and Pop Art.
